KENTUCKY FESTIVAL DE CINE ESTUDIANTIL

 

What is it?

 

The Kentucky Festival de Cine Estudiantil gives students (undergraduates and graduates) the chance to create and share short films that showcase their language skills and/or celebrate the Latino community. Organized by graduate students and faculty in the Department of Hispanic Studies at the University of Kentucky and supported by the Late Night Film Series and the Student Activities Board, the KYFCE is an invitation to University of Kentucky students to submit films for a competition that will take place the third week of April. Awards will be given.

 

Rules:

 

  • Films can only be up to 10 minutes long.

  • Films in English must have subtitles in Spanish.

  • Films must be appropriate for screening for a general audience and posting on YouTube.

 

What kind of movies should you make?

 

Any genre (documentary, cartoon, action, romantic comedy, music video, etc.). The main purpose of this showcase is to have fun with your Spanish, and to explore new and creative ways of using it.

Timeline:

 

  •  

 

  • April 10: submit all films to Organizing Committee

 

  • April 20: film festival takes place at 3:30pm-5:00pm in CB102

  • Music must be properly purchased or obtained. Music bought on iTunes, Amazon, etc. is not allowed as purchases there do not give you proper licensing for production use. ï‚·

  • Adaptations must be in the Public Domain. ï‚·

  • Give credit where it’s DUE (i.e. music, original author, etc.). ï‚·

  • Please check with your instructor to ensure that your project is following approved guidelines. ï‚·

  • Submissions remain private until after the Film Festival, when all submissions will be made available for public viewing and enjoyment on the KFCE Film Festival YouTube channel.
